Books You Should Read More Than Once

Great books should be read more than once. While rereading them can seem like a waste of time because there are so many other books to read, this is a misunderstanding of the learning process. The best time to start rereading a great book is right after finishing. The goal is not to read as many books as possible; I’ve tried that and it doesn’t work. The goal is to gain as much wisdom as you can. This is very important if you read self-development, self-help or self-improvement books. Find Your WHY Why you read this book. You have to have some idea of what you want to get from the book. You don’t just want to collect endless amounts of useless information. That will never stick. Find you're WHY? Reading-Repeating- Remembering If you already purchase a self-improvement book, that means you want to change something in your life. The only way to do it is thought the repetition. Keep reading the same text over and over again. Why you should do that? We're sure to get more out of the book that second or third time we read it. If you read the same story multiple times, you pick up new information, you dive deeper into the meaning of the book. Underline important sentence Most of us were taught as children to treat books as something sacred – no folding the page corners, and no writing in the margins, ever. However, if you want to remember what you read, forget about keeping books pristine. Outline all words and sentences which you feel are important, even better use a color marker to outline them. Making notes is an important foundation for reflecting and integrating what you read into your mind. In fact, go crazy with marginalia. The more you write, the more active your mind will be while reading, and the more you learn. Share and Apply What You've Learned So, you’ve finished the book. Now what? How can you use what you have learned? Don’t just go away with a vague sense of “oh yeah, I should totally do what that author says.” If you can take something you’ve read and apply it immediately, it will reinforce the learning and add context and meaning. Try it and it may surprise you how many new insights you gain, and even more, same time you learn to use teachings that are shared. That's should be a self-improvement book purpose, to help you, or what? Upon completing a book, find a person, and tell them about what you have learned. You’ll have to explain or describe why this information has meaning, and walk them through the author’s logic. Telling others what you had read is a powerful way to embed information in your mind. And if that doesn’t work, write a review on Amazon where people are likely to be interested. Here is a list of my favorite self-development books ever: The Science of Getting Rich (Original Classic Edition) This little thin book guides you to desire wealth and success. I have read it repeatedly. Beyond doubt, my favorite is chapter 7 - Gratitude The author says: "The whole process of mental adjustment and atonement can be summed up in one word, gratitude." And it's so true... more grateful you are the more good things you attract. Get your copy from Amazon Think and Grow Rich!: The Original Version This book is a jewel!
